Bismuth is a naturally occurring element but it is rather plain in nature. Creative folks have found ways to remelt it to form elaborate crystals in a rainbow of colors. When making this piece, I cut about thirty separate pieces of wood to form the "crystals" pattern. It gives this piece a dynamic appearance similar to real bismuth.
Wood cutouts and acrylic paint on panel.
