Life Advice from RuPaul


I somewhat recently become a fan of RuPaul. Not just because of his Drag Race (although isn't the latest season so good? Miss Vanjie!) My fandom started after hearing him on Marc Maron's WTF a few years ago and I became enamored with his kindness and attitude toward life. Recently I picked up his book Workin' It! on Kindle and thought it had some good life advice about reaching your goals. I wish the book was longer and went into more depth about his life but it was a quick fun read and here are a few tips I picked up along the way.

Meditation and the Creative Mind


An acquaintance of mine recently posted a great video on her practice of mediation and how it helps her "observe the thinking mind" (I love this).  As a creative person, I easily get caught up in the day to day struggle of solving problems and worrying about the future. I find that daily meditation really helps calm those thoughts and helps me focus on the present moment. If I'm not distracted by the past or the future, I find that ideas come more easily to me. Curing Water-based Inks with a Heat Press


Recently I've been using Permaset Supercover inks for screen printing. I like how they feel on the garment and are a breeze to wash up. But curing the ink has proven a bit difficult for me until now. The pros recommend using a tunnel dryer but if you're like me and have a small home-based operation, there really isn't room or $$$ for a tunnel dryer.
